TERMS & CONDITIONS

Last updated: [date]

These terms and conditions set out the basis on which you may use our website and buy products from us. Please read them carefully before placing an order. By placing an order you agree to these terms.

1. About us

This website is operated by [Megan Keech, trading as Megan Keech Ceramics / Megan Keech Ceramics Ltd]. We are [a sole trader based in / a company registered in England and Wales, company number 000000, registered office] at [business address].

You can contact us by email at [email address].

[If VAT registered: Our VAT number is 000 0000 00. / If not VAT registered, delete this line.]

2. Our products

All of our pieces are hand thrown and made individually, so each one is unique. Because of this:

  • Sizes and dimensions given are approximate.

  • Slight variations in shape, glaze, colour and finish are a natural feature of handmade work and are not faults.

  • The colours shown on your screen may differ slightly from the actual piece, as screens vary.

Images on the website are for illustration. While we try to display colours and detail accurately, we cannot guarantee that your device shows them exactly.

3. How the contract is formed

When you place an order, you will receive an acknowledgement email confirming we have received it. This does not mean your order has been accepted.

A contract between us is only formed when we send you an email confirming that your order has been dispatched. If we are unable to fulfil your order, we will contact you and refund any payment in full.

4. Price and payment

The price of a product is the price shown on the website at the time you place your order. Prices include [VAT where applicable] and exclude delivery costs, which are shown separately at checkout.

We take payment at the time you place your order, through [payment provider]. We do not store your card details.

We make every effort to ensure prices are correct. If we discover an error in the price of an item you have ordered, we will contact you to ask whether you wish to continue at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.

5. Delivery

We deliver to [the UK only / the UK and the following countries: ...].

  • Delivery costs and estimated timescales are shown at checkout.

  • As our pieces are fragile, we pack them carefully using protective, largely recycled materials to help them reach you safely.

  • We aim to dispatch orders within [X working days]. Estimated delivery times are not guaranteed.

  • Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery.

If no one is available to take delivery, the courier may leave the parcel in a safe place or with a neighbour, or leave a card with collection instructions.

6. Your right to cancel (non-bespoke items)

If you are a consumer based in the UK, you have the right to cancel your order for standard (non-personalised) items within 14 days, without giving a reason. This is in addition to your statutory rights in respect of faulty goods (see section 8).

  • The cancellation period ends 14 days after the day you receive the goods.

  • To cancel, email us at [email address] with your order number, making your decision to cancel clear. You may use the model cancellation form if you wish, but you do not have to.

  • You must return the goods to us at [returns address] within 14 days of telling us you wish to cancel. You are responsible for the cost of return postage.

  • Please return items in their original condition and packaging where possible. We may reduce your refund to reflect any loss in value if the goods have been handled more than was necessary to check them.

  • Because our pieces are fragile, we recommend you return them well packaged and using a tracked, insured service.

We will refund the price you paid plus the basic (standard) delivery cost, within 14 days of receiving the goods back, or of receiving proof that you have sent them, whichever is sooner. Refunds are made to your original payment method.

7. Commissions and personalised items

Commissioned, made-to-order and personalised pieces are made to your specification. For this reason, the 14-day cancellation right in section 6 does not apply to them, and they cannot be cancelled or returned once work has begun, except where they are faulty (see section 8). This does not affect your statutory rights.

For commissions:

  • We will agree the design, approximate dimensions, timescale and price with you before starting.

  • [A non-refundable deposit of [X]% is payable before work begins. The balance is due before dispatch. / Full payment is taken at the time of order.]

  • As with all our work, commissioned pieces are handmade and individual, so the finished piece will be a close interpretation of what is agreed rather than identical to any reference image.

8. Faulty, damaged or incorrect items

Your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply to everything you buy from us. Goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose.

If an item arrives damaged, faulty or not as described:

  • Please contact us at [email address] as soon as you can, and ideally within [7 days] of delivery, with your order number and photographs of the item and packaging. This helps us resolve things quickly, but does not affect your statutory rights.

  • Depending on the circumstances and the law, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund.

  • We will cover reasonable return postage costs for faulty or damaged items.

Please note that the natural variations described in section 2 are characteristics of handmade work and are not faults.
